I can't do that.
The words fill my mouth,
tasting like rusted mornings
without coffee.

I wish I could rewind.
Erase choices written in scars.
Each one a reminder
of what I've done.

I want to hold the past,
as if touch could remake it.
Torn between longing and what if.

The sunrise mocks,
its light persistent.
Even in beauty,
loss whispers back.

Silent moments stretch,
breathing in the fragments.
I know I can't return,
but my heart won't listen.

It keeps hoping.
Keeps aching.
I wish it would stop.

A candle burns across the room,
challenging the quiet.
